Howell Raines & The New York Times

Howell Raines, the embattled (and now deposed) executive editor of _The New York Times_ has a great piece in the May issue of _The Atlantic Monthly_ about the paper, his time there, and his perspective on the events that led to his ultimate downfall.

For those with an interest in media in general, or the _Times_ in particular, this is a must-read and provides some interesting insights into the paper and the life at one of this country's great journalistic and media outlets.

The link provides excerpts only, you'll need to pick up the magazine from a newsstand for the whole story.
