Indian village online

This is pretty neat: a project called smartvillages (www.smartvillages.org) is helping rural Indian towns to put themselves online. The first village, Hansdehar, and its site, can be seen here. Pictures, overview, even names of residents and owners of local businesses.

The town itself is still awaiting its first Internet connection, but it's neat for some guy sitting here in Seattle, WA, to be able to see and read and learn a little about the individuals and families half a world away.
