An iPod for some increased civility

The iPod Shuffle retails for about $79. It provides approximately 12 hours of uninterrupted playing time (assuming you've got the music).

This NYT City Room blog post ("Like a Mute Button for Hate")discusses a Park Slope "ranter" that routinely chews out passing Yankees fans (he being a Mets fan). Until a few days ago, that is, when the tell-tale white earbuds appeared.

Some increased peace and quiet for the neighbors (and the passing Yankees fans): Priceless, I'm sure.
